Archive
In a PACS, an archive is the component responsible for long-term image storage. Depending on the context in which the term is used, an archive can be the "PACS core," incorporating a workflow manager, the image database and various interfaces, or it can be the image storage device only, with other components considered separately. (In IHE, the Archive Actor is defined using the second, more limited sense.)
